EYE recruits 17-year old Swedish super talent

EYEBALLERS powered by JBL Quantum, TCL and Peas of Heaven has finished the signing of the Swedish CS talent Alex "poiii" Nyholm Sundgren. The 17-year-old has been playing with Lilmix since February and impressed us heavily.
“- Alex is Sweden's next superstar”, says EYEBALLERS playing CEO Jesper "JW" Wecksell.

Almost two years have passed since Robin "Flusha" Rönnquist and Jesper "JW" Wecksell revived the ancient organization EYEBALLERS with a major investment in Swedish Counter-Strike. The two world stars returned home, recruited some of Sweden's greatest talents and began the work of taking Swedish Counter-Strike back to the top.

Rönnquist has already stepped aside for younger talent once, and is doing so once again as we have recruited Alex "poiii" Nyholm Sundgren as our fifth player. The 17-year-old has been playing with the talent factory Lilmix since February and impressed greatly with a stellar 1.26 rating over the last three months. But we have had our eyes on Alex for longer than that.

“It feels incredibly nice to present Alex as our fifth player, a big thanks to Lilmix for a smooth transition”, says Jesper "JW" Wecksell, CEO of EYEBALLERS and continues about the signing:

”When we had just started the team, we went to DreamHack to meet our fans. At that weekend Alex showed up and challenged us to shootouts in the JBL Quantum booth and won a shirt. Somewhere in there, I think he decided to focus on Counter-Strike.”

Alex "poiii" Nyholm Sundgren is a gaming talent. He tested his way with good results in games such as Overwatch and League of Legends, before choosing Counter-Strike 2. Now that he has signed his first professional contract, he is making a wholehearted commitment to the top of the world and taking a break from high school studies. And the support from home is strong.

“EYEBALLERS have been incredibly professional in their dialogue with me and my parents, who are very important to me in my adventure. Having support from home means everything” says Nyholm Sundgren.

”I am very grateful for this chance to play with legendary players like Golden and JW who has lifted the biggest trophys together. I know I have to work hard to one day be as succesful as them” he also says.

EYEBALLERS has had a good 2024, with new co-owners in the form of, among others, artist Victor Leksell and NHL-star Adrian Kempe. In addition, the electronics giant TCL has come in as a new main sponsor - something that contributed greatly to the new transition.

“Having TCL on board means a lot. Their motto "inspire greatness" is completely in line with how we want to work with Swedish talent. In addition to hard work to become the best in the world in the game, it is also important to help them build brands that live on even after their career”, says Jesper Wecksell.

”Alex is now taking a break from school to focus full-time on Counter-Strike, so it is important that we give him the tools to do so.”

Alex “poiii” Nyholm Sundgren joins the team as of July 1st, 2024 and will be ready to play when EYEBALLERS start the CS season again on July 15th, 2024.
